
Target Audience:
Aimed at medium risk Service Settings working with adults and children who display challenging and dangerous behaviour. (Special Schools, PRU's Children's Homes, Hospitals, Children/Adult Respite Care, Elderly Care etc)
Course Description:
Nationally accredited via Team-Teach, this course covers personal safety, risk reduction strategies, a range of positive handling and interventions, together with a focus on policy, documentation and legal guidance.
This is organised into 8 modules:
Module 1 - Background to Team-Teach - Understanding the 'holistic approach'.
Module 2 - The Legal Framework - Review of current legislation (service
specific).
Module 3 - Understanding Aggression and Conflict.
Module 4 - How Feelings Drive Behaviours.
Module 5 - De-escalation and Defusing Aggressive Situations.
Module 6 - Personal Safety - Service specfic skills can be chosen via
'Request training' .
Module 7 - Physical Intervention
(This section includes guiding, escorting and holding in the standing,
sitting and kneeling positions, personal safety - techniques will be delivered
appropriate to the service group) Service specific skills can be chosen
via 'Request training'.
Module 8 - Reporting and Recording. Repair, Reflection and Review.
Participants will receive a Course Workbook and a Certificate.
Certification for this course is valid for 24 months.
